Lawn Doctor plans to expand with 9 new Upstate locations during next two years

A national lawn care company has announced it is looking to sprout some new business in the Upstate.

New Jersey-based Lawn Doctor, which was founded in 1967 and has more than 450 franchises in 38 states, said during the next two years it hopes to add nine locations in Spartanburg and Greenville counties, and one or two in Hendersonville, N.C.

Scott Frith, vice president of Lawn Doctor, said the company’s business increased in 2010 and is projected to grow again this year. Lawn Doctor is seeking to capitalize on the rise in demand for its services, he said.

“(Greenville/Spartanburg) is the best market in South Carolina for us,” Frith said. “Consumers really want lawn care right now. They understand that it increases their home value and curb appeal.”
